Instructions & Operations Tips

FIREPLACE

The fireplace is propane and not wood-burning. It can be controlled via remote control conveniently located on the coffee table. To turn the fireplace on, press the mode button one time. To turn it off, press the same mode button twice. Should you hear a beeping sound from the fireplace, it is because the remote is going out of sync. To fix that, simply turn the remote receiver black box off inside the fireplace on the right hand side. Wait a few moments and turn it back on. Please make sure the fireplace is remotely turned off when not in use.

Please DO NOT open the fireplace to make s'mores (or any other types of food). Any damage or costs to repair the fireplace due to burnt food falling inside of the fireplace will be deducted from your security deposit.

OUTDOOR FIRE PIT

There is wood for fire pit behind the grill. Please be courteous to leave enough firewood for the next guest whenever possible!

Please make sure that you exercise caution when using the fire pit and that children are not left unattended near it. There are fire starters, lighters, and s'mores sticks located inside the brown bench on the patio outside of the basement doors. To open the bench, pull the seat forward and then up. There are fire pokers under the covered patio.

Please be sure to fully extinguish the fire pit before leaving to go back inside and take all food and trash with you.

HOT TUB

If you plan on using the hot tub during your stay, upon your check-in, please immediately check that the hot tub is set to Standard (St) mode. If the hot tub is is showing a temperature under 100 degrees, feels merely warm and not hot, and/or shows that it is in Economy (Ec) or Sleep (Sl) mode, switch it back to Standard (St) mode. To do so, press the Warm button and then Light button. Keep alternating between Warm and Light until you see “St” on the display. Keep the cover on while the hot tub heats up (it will take a few hours).

After using the hot tub, please make sure to put the hard spa cover back on.

Please follow the hot tub safety rules below, while we make every effort to properly care for and maintain the tub, all hot tub usage is at your own risk:

  • The hot tub can seat up to 6 adults. Children should not use the hot tub.

  • Shower with soap and water before you come in.

  • Avoid applying lotions, creams, sunscreen or other skin/hair products before entering the hot tub.

  • Use caution when entering and exiting by using the provided steps at the entrance of the hot tub.

  • Please no jumping or diving.

  • Please do not bring food, drinks or glass in or near the hot tub.

  • Please no smoking while using the hot tub.

  • Elderly and pregnant people should consult their doctor before use.

  • Do not enter if the temperature is over 104° F.

  • After using the hot tub, turn off all lights and water jets and please make sure to put the hard spa cover back on and clip all straps.

  • During the winter, if there is water outside the tub, please salt the ground around the hot tub to prevent icy surfaces.

  • Recommended: Soak for 15-30 minutes at a time to prevent over-heating.

Please refer to the complete safety instructions posted by the hot tub.

OUTDOOR BBQ

The BBQ is hooked up to the propane service so there is no tank. To turn the gas on, look for the red lever attached to the yellow tube pipe on the house on the left side under the covered outdoor patio dining area. Turn that vertical. Wait two minutes. Push the round button on the lower left side of the BBQ. It should turn blue when pressed. The grill has a self igniter that you can turn on and use. When turning on the burners, make sure you turn them all on from left to right. Please be sure to turn grill knobs, button, and gas (red lever) off when finished. Put cover & bungee cord back on when the grill is cool.

  • Note: Neglecting to turn off the gas may result in full drainage of the propane tank which would mean no heat/hot water/burners/etc... for our home.

Occasionally, the main grill may be in the process of being serviced and non-working. In that case, please feel free to use the back up Weber grill located under the patio. The back up grill uses standalone propane tanks which are provided. We try to keep the tank full, but if there is no more propane in the tanks, you may fill it up or exchange it. You may do a propane gas exchange at the Dollar General located at 3647 NY-145, East Durham, NY 12423 (about 15 minutes away). Please submit any receipts to us so that we may reimburse you for the propane gas.

ARCADE

The full-size arcade is located in the basement. The arcade contains a small USB drive that is kept in the USB slot on the upper left corner of the keyboard. This USB drive MUST be kept in the arcade at ALL times as it contains the games for the arcade. If the USB drive is missing after your stay, a $150 replacement fee will be charged.

To use the arcade:

  • Press the power button on the top right corner of the keyboard.

  • Navigate to the Games Tab to choose from 300 built-in games (30 pages).

  • To access a more exhaustive list of 3,000+ games, navigate to the AppStoreX tab.

  • Navigate to the CoinOPSX app (which could be on any of the pages).

    • NOTE: CoinOPSX will ONLY work if the arcade has been turned on and booted for about 5-7 minutes. We suggest you play another game located on the Games tab while waiting for the arcade to finish booting.

    • If you see the “Preparing Assets” message when you select CoinOPSX, that means it is not ready to play.

  • Once CoinOPSX has been booted, when you select the app, the screen will turn black for ONE minute and then BLUE for 30 seconds. Then the entire game screen will load.

These are the controls to specifically navigate the CoinOPSX app:

  • A - Enter/Select Game

  • X - Change Playlist

  • Y - Add Game to Favorites Playlist

  • B - Remove Game from Favorites Playlist (Must be in Favorites List to work)

  • C - Skip to Next Page

  • Z - Skip to Previous Letter in Alphabet

There are thousands of games in the CoinOPSX app which can be overwhelming. If you prefer, using the joystick, tap right once to hit the Favorites list to access a more manageable list of very popular games.

NOTE: Do NOT connect the arcade to Wi-Fi as it could download new firmware which could update and mess up the arcade. Please keep the arcade offline.

XBOX1

The Xbox gaming system is located on the basement level below the 75" television. Turn on the television with the remote control. Manually turn on the Xbox system. Change the input to HDM1 4 using the remote control located in the center cabinet under the Xbox system. Should you have your own passcode, please enter it into the system. The controllers are located in the center cabinet under the Xbox system. Please place the controllers back on the charging station when not in use.

KARAOKE MACHINE

The karaoke machine is located in the basement. To use it, turn it on and wait for the screen to light up. Tap on USB and hit enter. Use the up and down arrow keys to select the song you'd like. From there, either highlight "Add" and push Enter to add it to your queue or push the left arrow from Add to highlight the song and push Enter to play the selected song right away. To skip to the next song in the queue, you can press the arrows located on the microphone.

Please be sure to recharge the microphones with the charging cables by the machine when you are finished so the next guest may enjoy the karaoke machine!

WELL WATER

Please understand that probably unlike your home, the Lodge uses well water with a sophisticated purification system. As such, we ask that you refrain from leaving the water running when you're not actively using it. There is only so much water in the well! Also, please note that too much water being used at one time will decrease the water pressure throughout the house.

WIRELESS SPEAKER AND MARSHALL SPEAKER

There is a both a wireless JBL speaker and a Marshall speaker provided for your music enjoyment. Please be sure that the speakers and charging cable are accounted for before you leave.

TOILETS AND SEPTIC TANK

All toilets in the house run to a septic tank which is probably different than the sewer system that you're used to. For that reason it is VERY important that nothing (even flushable wipes!) is flushed down the toilet other than human waste and toilet paper. Anything else should be disposed of in a trash bin.

Also, please don't pour any harsh chemicals in the toilet or sink, such as bleach, as that will kill the good bacteria needed in the septic tank.
